Artist Spotlight: Oliver Anthony
Oliver Anthony (born Christopher Anthony Lunsford) has become a country music viral sensation since the release of his single, "Rich Men North of Richmond" in August 2023. The song went number 1 on iTunes, Spotify, and Apple Music within a matter of days. Anthony has broken records as the first songwriter to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 without any previous chart appearances, as well as countless other records and milestones.
Despite a rise to fame that occurred seemingly overnight, he has been posting covers and original songs on his Youtube Channel, "Oliver Anthony Music," since 2020. Two weeks after "Richmond" went viral and blasted him with media attention, Anthony posted a new music video to his Youtube channel that reached 1 million views in 24 hours. The following music video, posted in early September, experienced similar attention. Based on the revenue from this monetized channel, American Songwriter estimates his net worth to be somewhere around $1 million already, and the theoretical value of his musical assets have risen from $0 to $8.12 a share in the past month, an estimated 68m DCF valuation.
